The road to Videri began with love. Sam Ratto, a California native, and Starr Sink, a North Carolina native, moved from California to call Raleigh home in 2009. They wed in 2010, started Videri Chocolate Factory in 2011, and had a son in 2012!
Sparked by a passion for excellent chocolate and with roots in American agriculture, the couple, along with their dear friend Chris Heavener, opened the doors to Videri Chocolate Factory and to the dream of smelling like chocolate every day. Starr's outgoing personality and passion for community made her a perfect fit behind the retail counter. From the moment Sam sunk his hands into a bag of cacao beans, he fell in love with every step of making chocolate. With generations of farmers on both sides of his family, it felt like his calling had finally been heard. In 2018, Chris decided to pursue other dreams and moved into the most important role of all, customer!
Many thousands of chocolate bars later, and with a constantly growing team of awesome people, Sam and Starr are still living the dream; sharing that passion with the community in Raleigh and beyond.
What’s so special about our bean-to-bar chocolate? They don’t use fillers such as soy lecithin, xanthan gum, emulsifiers or artificial flavorings; only the finest cocoa beans, cocoa butter, and organic cane sugar make it into the Videri bars. All the ingredients are thoughtfully procured, using sustainable purchasing standards.
